anonylist pro

Clear what’s finished, in one go.

A list that has been running for a few weeks is mostly history. The dish somebody already brought, the errand that got done, the twelve rows from the trip you got back from. Deleting them one at a time is the part nobody does, so the list just gets longer.

Tick the rows you’re finished with and delete them together. It takes one pass instead of twelve, and everyone on the list sees the tidy version immediately — same list, same link, nobody re-invited.

How it works

  • Turn it on for a momentOpen ⚙ and choose Bulk delete. The menu closes and you’re back on your list.
  • Tap what’s finishedEvery tap ticks a row instead of opening it. A bar along the bottom keeps count, so you always know how much you’ve picked.
  • Delete the lotOne button. It names the number of rows and asks before anything happens. Cancel — or the Escape key — leaves the list exactly as it was.

Three rows picked. The bar counts them, and Delete is the only thing that removes anything.

It asks first, because it can’t be undone

Deleting a single row gives you a few seconds to take it back. A sweep doesn’t, and pretending otherwise would be worse than saying so: an undo that restores one row cannot speak for twenty. So the confirmation names the number of rows and says plainly that they go for everyone on the list.

Rows are deleted the same way they always were, one at a time behind the scenes. There is no “empty this list” button anywhere in anonylist, and adding one is not on the cards.

Your permissions still decide

Bulk delete comes with the account rather than the list, so it works on any list you can open — including one somebody else owns. What it can’t do is hand you a power the list hasn’t given you.

On an owned list the owner chooses what visitors may change, row kind by row kind. Leave deleting off and nobody but the owner and their admins removes anything, in bulk or one row at a time. Leave it on and anyone with pro can help tidy up. The server enforces that either way, whatever any screen happens to show — bulk delete never grants a permission, it just saves taps for somebody who already had one.

Section headings stay out of it on purpose. Deleting a heading doesn’t take the rows underneath it away — it leaves them behind, unfiled — which is rarely what somebody clearing out a list means.

Bulk delete is new, and it may change while people use it. Anything you delete with it is gone the same way anything else deleted from a list is gone.

Questions

How do I select more than one row?
Open the gear menu and choose Bulk delete. Every tap then ticks or unticks a row instead of opening it, and a bar along the bottom counts what you have picked. Cancel or the Escape key leaves without deleting anything.
Can a bulk delete be undone?
No, and that is why it asks first. Deleting a single row gives you five seconds to take it back, but that undo restores one row and cannot speak for twenty. A sweep names the number of rows and says plainly that they go for everyone before anything happens.
Can other people on the list delete rows in bulk?
Only people you already allow to delete, and only if they have pro themselves. On a list you own you choose what visitors may change, row kind by row kind. Turn deleting off and nobody but you and your admins removes anything, in bulk or one row at a time.
Does everyone need an account for this?
No. Only the person doing the sweeping needs anonylist pro. Everybody else on the list carries on opening the same link with no account, as always.
Can I delete a whole section this way?
Not in a sweep. Section headings are left out on purpose, because deleting a heading does not remove the rows underneath it — it leaves them behind, unfiled. Delete a section the usual way when that is what you want.
