anonylist has no accounts and asks for nothing about you — no name, no email, no sign-up. This page explains what does happen to the things you type.

What's stored

• Your lists — titles, items, and sections — are stored on our server in plaintext so they can sync between everyone who has the link. This is not end-to-end encrypted: the server can read list contents.
• A list password, if you set one, is stored hashed and acts as a gate for new visitors. It is a speed bump, not privacy — don't put secrets in a list.
• Which lists you've opened is remembered only in your own browser (local storage), so your list drawer works. It never leaves your device unless you export it.

What's collected

• IP addresses of visits to a list are logged, to protect against abuse of anonymous storage.
• Google Analytics measures aggregate traffic. List links are redacted before they reach Analytics — your unguessable list URLs are never sent to Google.
• The AI assistant and background generator, when you use them, send your command and the list's contents to Anthropic to produce a result. Don't use them on anything sensitive.

Keeping and removing

Lists may be removed after long inactivity. There is no account to delete; a list exists only at its link. To remove a list's contents, empty it. To forget a list on your device, use “Forget this list” in the drawer.

Don't store sensitive information

Because storage is plaintext, the server can read lists, and links can be shared, anonylist is not the place for passwords, financial details, medical information, or anything you'd be harmed by others seeing.
